Stolen Spark, schwarz

Symmetry drives the composition: the throne sits dead centre beneath a rough masonry arch, the chains fan outward like a second pair of arms, and the upturned face becomes the apex of a tall triangle. Across a room the figure reads as one bold lit form set against a void; up close you find the cross-stitched seams, the shredded hems of the coat, the cracked leather of the boots and the pitted surface of every stone block. The lighting is pure chiaroscuro from a single overhead source, so the scene seems to glow in daylight and sinks into velvety depth once the evening lamps are low. Its landscape format and strong central axis give a long wall a clear anchor, while the receding archway adds depth that pushes the surface back instead of closing it in. Tufted leather, wrought-iron candelabra, heavy linen drapery, reclaimed oak and raw plaster all suit its castle-keep atmosphere. Centre it above a long sofa or sideboard, or let it span the wall behind a dining table so the throne lines up with the head seat. Because the print is produced to your measurements, the figure can be scaled to true presence without the arch being clipped at the ceiling line.
