One specimen, centred and almost perfectly symmetrical, forms the whole composition: the wings open into a broad, low shape spanning most of the width, with four eyespots arranged in a balanced diamond around the segmented body, so the gaze settles at the centre before travelling outward along the zigzag bands. From across the room it reads as a strong emblem, almost heraldic in its symmetry; closer in, the scale-like brushstrokes, the feathered antennae, the subtle wear of the paper and the soft halo around each eyespot come into focus. Built from translucent glazes over a gently mottled ground, the painting lets low morning light bring out the paper texture, while evening lamps sharpen the contrast between the shaded wing bands and the lighter margins. The wide horizontal spread visually broadens a narrow wall, and the expanse of quiet background around the moth lets even a small room breathe. Pair it with walnut cabinetry, leather-bound books, a brass desk lamp, antique glass cloches, cane and washed linen for a curated, collector's mood. Centre the moth above a desk, a vanity or a freestanding bath so its symmetry aligns with the furniture beneath, and keep surrounding art minimal to preserve its specimen-like focus. Each mural is produced to your exact wall dimensions, so the wingspan can be scaled to fill the space or held modestly within a generous margin.
