Some encounters are better left unexplained, and Backlit Envoys keeps its mystery intact. Three tall, thin figures with oversized heads hover at the mouth of a concrete passage, near enough to see and too far away to read. Nothing threatening happens; the drama comes entirely from the silence, the haze and the question of who will take the first step. It is the archetypal first-contact moment, staged with the restraint of a fine-art photograph rather than a blockbuster poster. For devotees of science fiction, it turns a plain wall into the opening frame of a story.

Everything in the frame converges on a single point: the walls, ceiling seams and tyre-worn floor all run toward a bright rectangle where the tallest figure stands at the centre with two smaller companions on either side. Seen from across the room, the mural reads as a bold play of darkness and glow with a trio of silhouettes at its heart; closer in, the water stains on the concrete, the grit of the gravel verge and the faint shadows stretching toward the viewer come through.
