Cavaliere, bianco

Laid out as a classic museum plate within a fine ruled border, the composition places the standing skeleton dead centre as the anchor, with the two skull studies balanced at shoulder height on either side, so the eye moves in a gentle triangle from face to face. From across the room it reads as a clean, airy scientific print with three strong hat shapes punctuating the open ground; step closer and the humour unfolds in the details, from tiny reference numerals and leader lines to the waxed curl of each moustache and the folds of the furled umbrella. With so much open paper ground, the mural reflects daylight generously and keeps a room bright, while the solid hats and crisp engraving lines hold firm contrast even in soft evening light. The tall central figure adds vertical emphasis that lifts a low ceiling, and the generous margins stop even a compact wall from feeling crowded. It sits beautifully with brass coat hooks, a bentwood hat stand, walnut, a stoneware umbrella pot and a leather-topped console. Hang it facing the front door, where the dapper skeleton greets arrivals beside the umbrellas, or behind a vanity or freestanding bath for a wink of wit in a guest bathroom. Each mural is printed to your exact wall size, so the border frames the plate precisely and every figure stays in proportion.
