The composition is a frieze of four vessels of varying height, a round flask, a slender vial, a broad-shouldered bottle and a squared jar, set along an implied shelf line so the eye steps from left to right, with the tall vial and the central twig bottle forming twin peaks. Across a room it reads as a crisp still life floating on a wide field of open paper, the serif lettering acting as a calm baseline; step closer and you find cork grain, reflections curving around each glass shoulder, the veining of every leaf and the mottled skin of the frog. Because the drawing is built from layered washes rather than hard outlines, daylight softens it into something airy and almost translucent, while low evening lamps pick out the deeper shading inside the glass and give the specimens a faint lantern-lit presence. So much breathing space around the vignette keeps a narrow or compact room feeling light and uncluttered, and the horizontal grouping gently widens a short wall. Pair it with apothecary-style cabinetry, turned oak, ribbed glass, cork, raw linen and a few living ferns in stoneware pots. Centre the middle bottle on the wall and keep furniture below it low, so the greeting stays readable and the bottles sit near eye level.
